This hilly point, jutting into Newport harbor, is named for President John Adams and is one of the largest seacoast fortifications in the country. Visitors can swim, fish or picnic. Tours are offered during the summer. Music festivals, including the annual folk-and-jazz festivals draw crowds. It also hosts "Sail Newport," a nonprofit community sailing facility offering sailboat and windsurfing instruction and rentals.
