A unique urban park and river walk in the heart of downtown Providence.. The Scene
This four-acre park near the train station hosts music, festivities and WaterFire, one of the city's most popular outdoor events. Cobblestone paths lead to a tidal basin and an amphitheater is home to concerts and festivals during the summer months. Venetian-style footbridges and several gondola water taxis just may convince you that you're in Italy.

The Experience
In the summer, the whole city keeps its eyes on the series of fires flaming high on the Providence River, just above the park. Twenty years ago the fires may have been a sign of polluted water, but modern onlookers are witnessing WaterFire, a performance art experience that has come to symbolize the city's renaissance. On various nights from March through October, the fires burn from sunset to midnight.

Shimmer and Shake. Take a dimming city and add a little ingenuity and a ton of hard work and turn it into a nouveau riche place to savor all kinds of talent under a star- studded, European-style, ampitheater-like stage. Romance or Rock...this place is King of the Hill!

hart of city. Waterplace park is host to live music which a local radio station backs throughout the summer months. Alternative bands abound and there is plenty to do after the show ends. WPP also host the Shaksperian festival put on by Providence's Trinity Rep Company. Then there is Waterfire which is a must see. WPP has loads of clasic downtown scenery, wonderful restaurants, shopping and it is a great place to take your date. The only negative which I would say is that if someone is from out of tow, they may have trouble finding good parking.

It is clean and I would recomend it to anyone visiting the city.
