The Scene
The swing bridge and solitary operator are long gone, but people still cross the Seekonk River in droves for the Gatehouse. Modern diners would be too distracted by the dark wood accents, candlelight, fireplace and water views to even notice someone needing to cross via the bridge.
The Food
Patrons enjoy all the good things in life. Entrees are pricey, but the high quality leaves diners satisfied. The creative American-style dishes range from trout or roast duckling to Worcestershire-glazed rib-eye steak. For a satisfying down-home meal, try the honey-smoked pork porterhouse served with smoked tomato Creole mustard sauce, smothered collard greens and caramelized apple sweet potatoes. Traditionalists will love the herb-crusted half chicken with warm pine nut and golden raisin bread salad, sauteed spinach and balsamic reduction sauce.

Wonderful location by the water on the East Side of Providence. The only problem with this place is that it's CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
