Editorial Review for 10 Prime Steak & Sushi – by Lee Nash
The Scene
The fluorescent-colored walls, wavy turquoise columns and curvy-backed banquettes suggest you're not in Rhode Island anymore. But most of the young, trendy diners quickly adjust to the neon lizards, the headless torsos, and even the blue salt on the table by ordering a deep-green mojito.
The Food
The vibe may be creatively irreverent, but 10 Prime takes steak and sushi seriously. At one end, you've got The Club 10, a 40-ounce Porterhouse steak (finish it and you'll get your name on a plaque.) At the other end, a full page of inventive sushi extends from grilled sirloin to a very spicy salmon. Other options include a meat loaf topped by garlic smashed potatoes and a haystack of onion strings or a seaweed salad with sesame dressing--listed like all salads under "green things." Keeping it kooky, the dessert menu arrives with 3-D glasses so you can view sweet treats with eye-popping verisimilitude. How cool is that?

Considering the fact that it's in downtown Providence, parking is usually easy to find. They also have valet service, but it's hardly called for. The general "look" of the restaurant is very trendy, but it has the worst layout. The tables are about literally 4 inches apart. It makes you feel like you're having dinner with the people next to you. If you get a loud crowd next to do then good luck. This place is definitely not reccommended for dates, since there's no privacy. The food is good, but not great. Not good enough endure the terrible seatings. It is also over priced. If you're looking for authentic sushi, this is definitely not the place to go. Mediocre is more like it. The crowd consist mostly of young women and older men. You guessed it, it's a place for men in their 50s to pick up the young gold diggers. Please save your money and time. They try to come off as a hip new york, upscale, italian restaurant with an asian flare...FAR FROM. Big let down.
Pros: Parking was okay considering it was located downtown Providence
Cons: Bad seating, loud, over priced for average/ below average menu.

For the amount of money spent there, it was definitely sub-par. First off, the sushi had fish scales on it and almost cut my mouth!! Then I ordered a steak for over $50 and it wasn't even cooked enough. I like it medium/medium rare, but it was basically still mooing when it got to me. I could hardly even cut it with a knife because it was so hardly cooked. Dessert was missing flavor also. But besides that, everything else was fine. Martini was good and the service was friendly.
Pros: Trendy
Cons: Too much $ for the quality
