Editorial Review for Muqueca – by Citysearch Staff

In Short
Antonio and Fafa Gomes cook in the style of Espirito Santo, north of Rio, and their Cambridge compatriots flock to this modest parrot-green room to be coddled like house guests. A home-style feijoada arrives with black beans stewed with sausage, bacon, bits of dried beef, and bony pork cuts; accompanying collard greens, toasted yucca meal, fried plantain and orange slices round out the flavors perfectly.

Insider Tips

On the Menu

Espirito Santo-style cuisine is lighter than most Brazilian fare. Request the moqueca bahiana, a fish stew, flavored with dende (palm oil) and coconut milk.

Know Before You Go

This is the perfect place to dine before catching a performance or dance class at the nearby Brazilian Cultural Center.

I agree with the other poster...DO NOT GO TO MIDWEST GRILL for authentic Brazilian food! Not only is it over priced, it tastes nothing like the real rodizio from Brazil. Take it from me, I was born and raised in Brazil and Muqueca is my favorite brazilian restaurant in the States so far! My boyfriend (who is not brazilian) and I go there all the time. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and the price is veeeeeeeeeery nice! I absolutely love going there. It always makes me feel like I am back at home. You should try their Muquecas (any of them!) and the Tropeiro beans...to die for. Whenever you have rice as a side order ask for some "farofa" and mix it in the rice. Truly amazing! You must give it a try!

Pros: Everything

Cons: nada

This restaurant offers some of the best food one can get in Boston (best 'ethnic' food at least) The Moqueca is phenomenal and a must try, the fried yucca is addictive like a french fry but lighter. The deserts are equally exquisite. All in all this is a phenomenal restaurant. Location is small, so seating can be difficult but if you make reservations the staff does try to be accommodating. All in all the food is fantastic. Save room for desert as the Tapioca pie is delightful and the Chocolate Flan is a must try. This place is by far one of the most satisfying meals in the city.

Pros: Amazing Food, Easy street parking, Radical Deserts

Cons: No booze (they don't have a liquor license)
