Sweet Sophistications - Beware. Sweet Sophistications' tastings are delicious and their initial meetings instill confidence in their ability. Unfortunately, their execution for my wedding was terrible. We chose 2 flavor combinations which were confirmed over the phone by myself. I repeated the cake flavor, fillings and agreements. My cake was delivered on time, but was NOT what I ordered. One of the layers was completely the wrong flavor. I did not order chocolate cake. The buttercream was to be covered with ganache, but the ganache on my cake had several noticable open spaces. My wedding coordinator had to re-arrange many of the decorations and position the cake strategically. The decorations (greens and miniature fruits) were to be spaced out artfully. They covered nearly every seam on every layer (on arrival). The artist, "Ron" contracted to construct an urn out of moldable chocolate to be filled with some of the fruit and placed on top. They just put some fruit on top.

When I contacted them to demand restitution, I was told the cake artist was 'sick' on my wedding day and someone else made my cake. I was also offered only a gift certificate to the Christmas Dove -their affiliated store that sells Christmas Ornaments. This did not satisfy my regret in hiring them. I was also told during my transactions with them that they were retiring Sweet Sophistications in the year 2007. I sincerely hope they do that.
