1149 / Bravo Resturant just this side of awful
by eastgreenwich
1149 in East Greenwich has provided me not just one but two of my worst resturant experiences. I first went when the restuarant opened and had under cooked scallops with from the can sauce. When I asked to make a change I thought the management was going to rough me up in the alley. Tonight 9 months later I had friends in from out of town and thought I'd give it another try. After waiting over an hour to be seated from my scheduled reservation. I went to the host of which there where four Gotti wanna be's and explained we had had a reservation and had been waiting an hour, to that they laughed with arrogance and said guess you'll have to wait a little longer. No we are sorry or we will seat your party in a moment. just plain arrogance and disrespect. Hey 1149, the food is just above Burger King, your waitstaff is ill informed and your hosts wear pinstriped suits and want to be on the sapranos. All that makes for a great sitcom but an awful dinning experience. Don't waste your time or money at this spot.
- Pros: Better to watch HBO Saprano re-run
- Cons: you name it...not worth the gas
Very good brunch
by gala62
We went to Mario's Bravo for brunch after my husband went there for a business lunch. Overall we were very pleased, especially with the waitstaff, decor and general quality of the food. Some foods were on the bland side but the only dish I was seriously disappointed in was the chicken (chicken francaise?), sauce was bland to the point of invisibility.
Pasta was generally good and the breakfast items were quite tasty (with the exception of the sausage- flavor was ok but they were cold and very hard!). Standouts were the made to order omelets, waffles and the homefries.
Lots of fresh fruit and yummy desserts.
Our only other quibble was the mimosas were extra and cost $6 for a very small glass.
Price for brunch was about $21 per person, a bit pricey for regular visits, but fine for a splurge was in a great while.
- Pros: Service, decor, ambience, omelets
- Cons: some food not up to par, parking is tight when busy
