My wife hired Ocean State Cleaning to do a move-in cleaning of our summer home in Narragansett and they did an excellent job. I tend to be very nit-picky when it comes to the small details of a cleaning house and this company left me with the impression that they actually pay attention to the small details of a cleaning job unlike some other companies we have used in the past. Our summer home is over 5500 square feet and I consider it to be rather larger than most summer homes in this area. It hasn't been easy to find a company who could handle a house this size efficiently and effectively. Hiring a house cleaner who works on their own is not an option for us since we feel a one-person crew can't handle a job this size. Long story short, we would recommend Ocean State House Cleaning to our neighbors and have already given them several referrals.
I was very happy with the spring cleaning this company performed for me. My home is a rather larger home (about 3,000 sq ft) and the team of ladies they sent worked tirelessly from 9am to 5pm. They cleaned every surface including the walls and windows. I am very pleased with the result and would refer them in an instant.
I use this company once a week to clean my company's office. They do a good job and the price is very reasonable.
This Cleaning Service is one of the BEST! – Still using this Ocean State for house cleaning and it's been almost a year. Service has been consistent and quality of the work is good so I have recommended this company to several friends and business associates. They are easy to work with having been very accommodating on the few occasions when I’ve had to rearrange our cleaning schedule. They have recently started using an email survey service that allows me to grade them on the service the team provided every week. This has been a very useful tool to help me tweak the service so that the areas I feel are the most important are getting added attention from the cleaning team. If you are looking to hire a cleaning service I would recommend you give Ocean State a try.
We used Ocean State House Cleaning off and on for about three years for an elderly widowed parent. As often happens in these situations, the interior of the house had been let go - and it was too much for me to handle alone.
I chose this company because the were bonded and insured and not a franchise. I was also impressed with their local community service activities. We first hired OSHC to do a "deep cleaning" at the cost of about $250 (if I remember correctly), with the intention of using them on a semi-regular basis in the future.
The first cleaning went very well, and we were quite satisfied. Therefore, we decided to use them about every six to eight weeks or so.
The first year was fine; but the longer we used OSHC, the more and more sloppy their services became. Actually this sort of experience is common with service providers like house cleaners and landscapers - they start off strong, but then they sort of ease off once you're a regular customer.
Because we didn't have a fixed schedule, they sent different crews each time, and the cleaning eventually became more and more inconsistent. Sometimes they sent individuals who were very conscientious; and other times they sent kids who seemed to only to want to get out of the house as fast as possible. One time I asked one of the girls to dust the ceiling light fixtures upstairs to remove the cobwebs, and she told me "I don't understand what you want;" and when I showed her, she said "we don't do that." Another time they were in and out in less than an an hour, and I had to re-clean the bathrooms myself.
In addition, there was never any follow-up from their office after the cleanings to see if we were satisified. Therefore, we began using them less and less, and they never called to ask why.
The final straw came when they didn't show up at all for an important appointment, and the cleaning crew never called - thus forcing me to do the work myself. When I reported it to their office the next week, the person I spoke with said "I'm very sorry, I don't know what happened" but they never followed up to apologize or offer me any compensation for failing to show up. As a result, we haven't used them in almost a year, and they've never even called to ask why.
In summation, I think OSHC does a decent job (and probably better than most cleaning services); but (as with anyting like this), you have to stay on top of them and be sure to be specific if you are not pleased with something.
Ocean State Cleaning cleans for my family 2x a month. It's a great help and frees up some free time for us to do other things. They do a really good job.
They Clean My Home Twice A Week – I have a team from this company come to my home every Monday and Friday to clean for me. They do a great job. Very professional in my opinion. They show up on time, each worker knows their job and gets to it right away. Now I get to spend my time doing the things that I need to get done besides housework. I really appreciate all they do and my kids love that Mom now has more time to spend with them instead of vacuuming and dusting. Price is very reasonable, too.
Inconsistent and Unprofessional – Inconsistent cleaning, depending on staff that did the work. After 2 years of having the service, I experienced an unprofessional staff member who locked their keys in my house, and "broke in" through a window to get them. The manager informed me as if nothing was wrong with this.
Great Cleaning Service – The ladies you sent to clean my house today did a wonderful job! Looking forward to having my home cleaned weekly by your company. So glad I found you on Angie's List! I'll be leaving you an A+ rating there as well. Again, thank you!
An Altruistic Company - A RARE find! – I wanted to commend this cleaning company because of the work they do for the community. I am currently battling cancer and I am having a real hard time keeping up with my home. I had first tried to go through a women's cancer cleaning nonprofit but couldn't even get them to return my call or emails. I then stumbled across the website for this cleaning company and found out that they provide no-cost cleaning services for anyone fighting a life threatening disease. I called them in tears and Kara added me to the schedule that very same day. I truly could not believe how altruistic this company is and how willing they were to help without asking for a dime from me. Since I can afford to pay for some of the service I told them I didn't need a free cleaning service but rather a discount to make the cleaning services affordable to me. I wanted to tell everyone not only about how professional the cleaning staff that came to my house was and what a wonderful job they did but also how helpful Kara was to me on the phone. In my eyes, this company is a true hero. In this day and age, what a rare find!
