Fantastic!. I just moved to Rhode Island from the West Coast in April 2010 and shortly after moving here tried a hair salon close to me. Was going there for almost a year but something just wasn't quite right--cut, color--not bad, just not quite right and two things I am particular about are my hair and nails! After received a Groupon for The W Salon and reading all the wonderful reviews I decided to take a chance and venture over there from Lincoln. Very easy to get to, very accessible, and the receptionist was so forthcoming and sweet and told me exactly where to park--in the all-day $5 parking lot a couple doors down from the Providence salon! Perfect! After explaining to her my hair type, color, etc, she gave me an appt with Karen. Well...Karen was just wonderful! So sweet and she really listened and even remembered which side my hair was parted on when it came time for the cut! She needed to do a little tweaking on both the cut and color because, as I suspected, it wasn't quite right. After discussing what i wanted, we chose a hair color together (in the red family which can be tricky) and she colored and cut my hair just as I was looking for. Everyone in the shop was so friendly and the ambience felt good too. I will definitely be returning to Karen since the total experience was great, including Karen's talent in coloring and cutting my hair to a 't'!! If you're on the fence, just take a chance and go for it, you won't be disappointed! Thanks 'W' for the Groupon too! A lovely way to try a new salon!

Great people with impeccable skills!. The W salon has two locations, one in Providence on Westminster Street near Classical High School and the other on Willett Ave in Riverside. I've been to both and was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic service provided by friendly staff.

I first went to the bright, airy Riverside location for Tangled Tuesdays--an impossibly good deal--2 mini-spa services for $10! I made an appointment for a mini-facial and mini-pedi. Despite the appointment, I had to wait quite awhile for service, but it was well worth the wait.

Ana, esthetician and nail technician, spent 10-15 minutes educating me about my skin and explaining why my break-out prone skin would not benefit from a mini-facial, and gave me a 20% off coupon for a full custom facial. She then whisked me over to Justin for a chair massage.

15 minutes and a relaxing shoulder massage later, I was getting a mini-pedi from James. As we were chatting, he casually mentioned that he loved to do hair like mine--to a mixed girl with impossibly curly hair, this is a statement I have never heard---ever. In desperate need of a hair cut, I decided to go for a haircut with James.

So an evening of relaxation in Riverside lead to an appointment for a day of beauty at the Providence location approximately 3 weeks later.

When I arrived at the Providence location, I was impressed by the urban loft feel, and the friendliness of the reception staff (Jamie).

I did not have to wait at all, as Ana greeted me at the reception area and gave me a tour of the salon on my way to the facial room.

After my first facial, I'm hooked! Ana is a star! She gave me the most amazing facial, paying particular attention to my problem areas and educating me about the care of my skin. Afterward, my acne prone skin felt soft and glowed like never before.

James also did a great job. He washed, conditioned, cut, and styled my hair, explaining everything he was doing while giving me tips about caring for curly hair. I have to say that my hair is a little shorter than I expected, but it looks great--shiny and healthy--and I’ve gotten many compliments.

I will definitely be a regular at the W salon!

Karen Boucher -- changed my life!. I must admit, I have never been disappointed by W salon. All the stylists are masters of their craft, but yesterday I went in a dowdy crazed mess and came out sexy and looking 10 years younger. Karen Boucher took her time and took me on like it was a joy to listen to my wishes and turn them into reality.

In almost 50 years, no stylist has supported my desire for warm color and highlights until Karen. We really discussed my colors. We looked at the possibilities. She gave me expert advice.

The whole time she worked on me, I felt pampered. Karen wanted me to have the perfect look as I get back in the dating scene. She was meticulous in every way, yet calm and grounded.

Karen did not try to up-sell me. (None of the stylists at W do this.) She clearly loved her work and was proud of her mastery. I feel completely cared for, and I love how I look.

Always a Great Experience with James. I've been using the W Salon for almost a year, and I always have a great experience.

I see James, and I don't give him a great deal of guidance: I permit him to use his best judgment and I'm always more than pleased with the results.

In the past, I've used simple barbers in town, and I've gone back to the ones who talked the least. With James, however, conversation is easy and interesting. He has a good sense of humor and is quiet but not reticent. I always look forward to seeing him.

I've begun taking my ten-year-old son to the W Salon, as well, and his hair has been getting rave reviews.

The W Salon is well decorated without being flashy, and contemporary without being antiseptic. A stimulating environment.

I wish I was inclined to take advantage of more the W Salon's services and products, but am glad that I'm never pressured to do so.

At the W Salon, you can get a great new look and maybe a new friend. I will remain a loyal customer.

the w salon. My favorite Salon!! Jaclyn is the best!! I always have the worst experiences at salons but Jaclyn is fun, friendly and great with the scissors. My boyfriend and I wont go to any other hair stylist. Ask for Jaclyn :)

Jaclyn Parisi is incredible!. I have never had my hair done anywhere else like the way jaclyn does it! I have never been so satisfied with a hair-do. She is simply amazing. I will tell her exaclty what I want and she will do just that. So, everyone who is sick and tired of being depressed after a terrible hair color/cut/anything I strongly advise an appointment with Jaclyn and I promise you will leave nothing but pleased. Speaking of, I need to be making my next appointment with her ASAP!

Jaclyn is amazing!. Every time i get the chance to visit Providence I make sure to set an appointment with Jaclyn! She is an amazing stylist and every experience I've had with her has been a great one. She always understands exactly what I'm looking for, whether it's a new cut, a new color or a special treatment. She makes sure your time spent at the W Salon is a relaxing and happy one. To this day i can't find a stylist or a salon that i love more than Jaclyn and the W!

Love it!. I just moved to the Providence area and I am always nervous to get my hair done with a new stylist. I am one very picky person when it comes to my hair, i will admit. I saw Jaclyn and she did an amazing job with my color and cut, I couldn't be happier. She really took her time to talk to me about my color options. I will definitely be going back to see Jaclyn!

Alisha is a magician!!. I have been to the salon twice and both times Alisha worked wonders with my hair. My hair was dry, coarse and hard to manage. After Alisha gave me a conditioning treatment my hair was transformed to soft and smooth. It was amazing, like I had someone else's hair. Alisha is very pleasant and knew just what to do with my ethnic hair. I highly recommend her and the salon.

Alisha is a genius!. Alisha listens, ask questions and cuts with confidence. I have straight, very thick, hair and was stuck in a bob style for years. I was so bored, but every time I asked for layers I ended up with something bushy (and unfortunate looking) or worse, helmut head. I tried W because of the reviews, asked for someone who could cut, thick straight, hair and got Alisha and a great, modern, versatile cut. My medium-length layers take less time to dry, are easier to style and younger-looking than my old bob, and fun! Alisha listened to my hair horror stories and just knew what to do. I have the style I have always wanted but couldn't get anywhere else (even though I paid more at other salons). I've been back to see Alisha enough times to earn a free cut (which I love) and she is consistently great! If you're searching, give her a call!
