go there its worth the drive. This place was a very pleasant surprise. We were coming from Quincy and visiting New Bedford for the first time. We had asked someone directions to the best water view in the area which featured a lighthouse to take some pictures. We were told it was Butler

worth a try.
A friend and I decided to go out saturday night to grab a nice meal and we decided on Davy's, a popular and well known restaurant for many years in this city.Soon after we were called for our table. I ordered a cup of clam chowder, my fried calimari as appetizers. Both were wonderful. The chowder was flavorful, full of diced clams and potato in a light creamy broth and just the right seasonings. My friend enjoyed her order of calimari saying they were tender and tasty. My entree of tenderloin tips and garlic shrimp was fabulous, cooked to perfection and I chose to have it served with linguini in a garlic butter sauce. It was GR8 !! My friend however chose the lobster newburg at market price and was very disappointed. She found the approx. 5oz. of lobster blanketed by the very tasty newburg sauce to be very tough and rubbery. It was served with two small baked potatoes.I assume they were out of larger ones, and she opted not to have a vegetable. The hostess came by and informed us that she was sorry but the lobster had been cooked fresh that very day.
My friend was offered a complimentary dessert which she declined since she seldom eats sweets and I am trying to lose weight. The service in the dining room was very good, the waitress very pleasant. Upon receiving the bill however we were floored to see the price of the lobster newburg at 29.95 considering the amount of lobster used to prepare this dish. I would dine there again, carefully choosing what I order and perhaps asking the price of a dish before I order when I see market price. I thought the price of that dish was exhorbitant considering the amount of lobster meat used and would have been easier to accept if my friend had been pleased with the quality. Overall had it not been for that dish everything was wonderful, the slow service in the bar a minor inconvenience.
