Editorial Review for Lobster Pot – by Lawrence Goodman
The Scene
The long, narrow, windowed dining room has a rustic, back-to-basics feel. Plain wooden tables covered with simple white clothes are lined up in rows and watercolor prints of sea vessels and flowers hang on the walls. A giant golden lobster rests before the fireplace. Clearly, the crustacean is king.
The Food
Some may forgive the chef for wanting to keep the dishes straightforward and traditional, but how to excuse the low quality of the cod and crab cakes? To say, "out of season" isn't enough. Raw oysters arrive on top of a huge plate of ice, thereby rendering them cold and tasteless. A tender escargot appetizer is better, but still requires a good deal of salting to bring out the flavor. Only the lobster, artfully arranged on the plate so that its head sticks straight up, excites the taste buds with its sweet and succulent meat.

I hosted a graduation party here last week for a group of 18. The whole experience was very plesaant and professional. Reservations, changes in the number of guests and their contact with me was professional. The location is perfect, sitting on Bristol Harbor and looking out on beautiful ocean vistas. The waitstaff was very helpful and attentive. They recommended a number of appetizers for our party and they were all exceptional: crab cakes, calimari, clams casino, scallops, onion rings and smoked salmon. The entrees were fresh, well prepared and of a good size. I had the lobster salad and it was very good and the portion size was good. The wait staff was excellent, never rushing us and always available for refills. Management was also friendly and accomodating. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.
Pros: Excellent efficient wait staff, fresh and tasty seafood, great views

This place has always been expensive, $40 for a stuffed lobster. I was there on 7/22/07 and paid $66. $132 just for two lobsters, I don't mind paying for anything, but I hate to be ripped off. They can stuff them because I will never go back there again.
Pros: NONE
Cons: RIP OFF
