I started seeing Amelia Hirota at Center of Balance in October 2007. My OB/GYN recommended that I try acupuncture to relax and help with conception. My cycle and charting were certainly not perfect, but after just 3 cycles with Amelia, I'm pregnant! I am now almost 7 weeks, and although I am terribly nauseous, I feel great and am really excited. Amelia taught me a lot about fertility, my cycle, and my own body. I thought I knew everything I needed to know to conceive- but working with Amelia certainly taught me a lot. Her website, search The Fertility Acupuncturist, is also full of great information. I believe acupuncture can help everyone but you must relax and trust your own instincts when it comes to what aspects of Chinese medicine you are comfortable with. Good luck to you all!

Amelia Hirota wasn't my first experience with Accupuncture. However, I have to say my treatments with her were my most successful. My past treatments didn't, for some reason, give me the results I needed. It's been over 20 years between treatments. I went to Amelia because of my husband. We both suffer from back and neck muscle spasms. My husband had a spasm or 2, I suppose, last spring, that were so severe it rendered him unable to walk, sit or stand, pretty much at all. After trying physical therapy, manipulation by our Osteopath and massage it was not getting better. Next was Accupuncture. We had heard good things about The Center of Balance and Amelia so he gave it a shot. It was the shot heard round the world. Before he left her that day she said "it might get worse before it gets better." Worse was an understatement. He was brought to tears, literally, in the middle of the night. Then, the next morning - a miracle. He was better. Almost all better. We were convinced. Amelia is sweet, smart, knowledgeable and funny. She's our new healer. After his experience I went for a series of treatments for my own issues which included some arthritis in a finger. One treatment. Gone. Also had some fun pinches in some oddball places for hot flashes. That was several months ago. I just now started getting some again. I'll be going back soon!
