Simply Superb Food!.
I have been a guest of Lucia's for nearly 4 years.
I own a business on the street, I send many of our customers there, we have their menu's in our shop for customers looking for fantastic food, and NEVER have I heard negative from anyone about any aspect of this restaurant ! We actually get emails thanking us for the reccomendation !
We frequent Lucia Restaurante on a weekly basis, sometimes more than twice a week for either lunch takeaway or dinner.... and the food is among the most consistant of any Newport restaurant.
If your looking for excelent food, buy a bottle of your favorite wine and head to Lucia's !
Excellent. Everything about this place met my expectations..I have worked in the food and fine dinig business for years and trust me the people writing bad reviews like 'sailforlife' are usually the people who enter a place with a chip on their shoulder, they come a dime a dozen and all need a wake up call. Benadryl!! because of a random allergic reaction? Come on what are we 12? The waitor didnt do anything because he was praying you choked out right on the floor. I know your type and trust me your not wanted in any eatery across America. Next time Broadway may be more suitable for your acting skills, DRAMA QUEEN. Anyway the food was excellent and we will be back time and time again. With all the fake Italian places in the country it is certainly a breath of fresh air to come across an authentic one like Lucia's.
Good food, poor decor. I visited the place in mid December 2008. I didn't have dessert, but I brought a party of 8 to this place after seeing that they had vegetarian options. I am hard to please and have a picky family. We ordered a wide selection, from meat dishes to vegetarian. Every dish we ordered was excellent, and many were not typical american-italian items. The service was very low key but the food came quickly. The one waiter it turned out was feeling down because of the slow season but he warmed up. The unfortunate aspect of this place is the decor. To me it's a wild west parody - something I would have expected in Kanab Utah. But I went for food. I can't agree with the negative reviews. However, I wouldn't choose this place for a wedding rehearsal dinner, replete with stressed bridezillas, groomzillas and motherzillas. I will be back to Newport, and I will make a point to eat here again.
love it. The person who wrote the comment about the dessert must love the hot apple pies at Mc Donald's. Her comment is a completly fabricated version of what happened I'm sure!! When we visit our summer home in Newport we stop in atleast twice a week. I love it here!!!!! Please do not go by her review, for I am sure she muse only be a dollar menu at Mc donalds kind of person!!
Awful!!.
We were horribly greeted, then we had this awful dessert that tasted like lard and ended up giving me an allergic reaction. After I told the waitress I had to take Benadryl, she didn't seem to care and still charged us for the dessert (NO ONE came out to apologize, or say "we're so sorry"..) the only reaction we got was "we served this all night and no one has complained.". AND?? That means nothing! The lady next to us had an entree she hated but didn't say anything about it.
Needless to say, simply don't go here. Overpriced for no reason.
best italian food I had and great service!.
I went in Newport with friends, and while we were walking downtown we decided to have dinner at Lucia's. All of us are big fan of Italian food, and we were told that here we would find authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant was raccommended to us from common friends.
It was a great experience!
It was like entering into a real place in Italy. The ambiance was very cozy, the service was great, friendly and professional. The food was truly Italian. The best I had in the States! While we were waiting for the food we were greeted also from the owner, Lucia, whom gratiously, with her strong Italian accent, started a short conversation with us, making us feel like home.
As soon as we tasted the food we understood why this plase was reccommended: so rich of flavor, so unique!!!! Really, a great experience to repet as soon as I will go back in Newport!
Awful service. A waste of time. Honestly..
My fiance and I ventured into Lucia Italian Restaurant today as we were scouring for potential rehearsal dinner spots. When we walked into the dining area, we noticed that there was no one to greet us and although there were other guests sitting down, no one appeared to have been served. After about 2 minutes, a scruffily appearing waiter appeared telling us quite brusquely "sit anywhere you want." We did so and a waitress subsequently came by our table, and literally THREW the menu at us. She and the other server clearly could care less about the customers and it was obviously that they hated their jobs. Not a great start for a restaurant that prides itself on its ambience and "high class" Italian food.
After the waitstaff was nowhere to be found for 10 minutes and after we were left with menus and no water and no bread, we realized that this restaurant was going to be sub-par in every way.
This was in contrast to Brick Alley Pub which we went to (2 doors down) where the atmosphere was festive, the service impeccable, and the food outstanding.
Lucia Italian Restaurant is a waste of time. If you're looking for true fine dining, fairly priced food, excellent service, and great ambience, look elsewhere.
