The salvation cafe is really different and really an experience. You have to be a fan of old music as 1940's big band hits are often played. It gets a really nice crowd of locals and also the tourists like me. The food is really different. You can have burgers and ribs or even pork and linguine or Thai food. Definitely an experience to try.

The Salvation Cafe attracted you with its artful sign, and it draws you in with an eclectic atmosphere, stocked bar, and impressive menu. The SC is probably my favorite spot in Newport - its slightly off the beaten path, so the tourists and college students are not there in flocks. Service is great, both at the bar and for dining. Sunday brunch provides very generous portions, and its so good that you'll likely be licking your plate. Dinner has a more extensive, and equally delicious selection of foods. Their Malai Kofta is a great find, but it seems impossible to go wrong with any choice. Dessert is a must here; the banana purses will blow your mind.
