If you need a good late night choice in Newport, the Red Parrot is a good one. A diverse menu featuring many soups, salads, starters, pizzas and entrees. Standouts include linguini with clams, lobster cakes, prime rib and fresh catches of the day served grilled or broiled. The Parrot also has a stellar bar with many draft beers and a decent wine list. If you have room, try one of the fresh daily dessert choices.
Pros: Linguini with clams; lobster cakes; fresh fish of the day.
Cons: It's loud.

The red Parrot is usually consistent, we have enjoyed the soups, apps, pizzas and sandwiches. It is always crowded...we went last night and the experience was not our favorite...it could just be an isolated event but the service was terrible...the waitress argued with us over things and would not bring things we asked for. The majority of the time it has been good. A good change of pace from brick alley pub
