food was ok, service was lousy. For the price you pay, the portions were not that big. No salad with the $20 meal. Food tasted good, but service was horrible. We had to ask the waitress numerous times for little things like water, lemons, more bread sticks, etc. We asked for more bread sticks for our party of 12, and she brings us one basket with 6 bread sticks in it. We asked for oil for the bread, and she says there's already some on the table. It was a tiny bit in the bottom of a dish. She's lucky she got the 15% tip she got. WE AINT GOING BACK THERE!

Good, but not worth the price. After reading aaronmc's review, I went to Tavern by the Sea with great expectations. The food continues to be quite good and the menu is large enough to satisfy those who love seafood and those who don't. They have received their full liquor license, so alcoholic beverages other than beer or wine are available. My party and I went on a hot (95 degrees) Tuesday noon for iced tea burgers and salad. The burgers came without any condiments. It wasn't until I received the bill that I found they charge of each refill of the iced tea and $1 for each tablespoon of condiments (mayo, mustard, etc.). I certainly was not expecting $60 for 2 burgers and a salad with iced tea for 3. The accommodations are somewhat cramped. The food was delicious and well-presented. The service was attentive without hovering. But be prepared to pay half again as such as you should.

In a town that needs good places to eat, Tavern by the Sea delivers exceptional food.. Wickford is so quaint you may want to v omit when you visit it. The town is forever battling a desire to fill up with overpriced tourist traps for the summer season at the expense of places actual townsfolk might like. Tavern by the Sea is no tourist trap. It delivers city-like cuisine and atmosphere for rural-town prices. I am, in word, hooked.

They feature a lot of seafood, being in a fishing village, but there's also a wide selection of pastas... some of which have seafood IN them. Still, a hater of fish will not be left out in the cold. Steaks, pastas, chicken, and a semi-large menu ensure you'll find something you like.

Presentation is very good. Dishes are garnished with flare and color, and wouldn't look out of place in a NYC eatery. The taste definitely backs it up. I've loved everything I ate. Most recently I had bruschetta for an appetizer, which is served somewhat pizza-like with a sweet sauce drizzled on top, and chicken picatta for my entree. The chicken came with mixed vegetables and excellent mashed potatoes. The chicken was fantastic. I was ready to lick the lemon butter garlic sauce off of the plate.

The atmosphere is very nice. Cozy, would be a good word, because it's pretty cramped. They made some significant achievements with space, and it's not the most cramped place I've been, but it's not spacious. Still, the food and prices are worth it.

Also, as of this writing, they had yet to get a full liquor license. So if you were hoping for anything, and I mean anything, other than beer or wine, you're out of luck.
