Once the best Chinese food in town, the Islander no longer gets my vote. It's become a ''hit or miss' and the management doesn't seem to care when told of the problems. Food has had odors, has not been fresh, has had bad flavor, etc. There have been no offers of replacing meals or re-imbursement...not good for people who visit your restaurant weekly.
The place isn't as clean as once was, and yes, even the menus & untensils are sticky. Packaged sauces when take-out is ordered, are sticky & the rolls are always stale. Don't go there! Goodbye Islander.
- Pros: have none to speak of
- Cons: place is going downhill
Do not eat here!

I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone at all. A friend of mine worked there for awhile and i have also eaten there myself. From what i have heard the kitchen is very unsanitary no one wears any sort of glove or sterile objects for preparing food. The food is also very pricey and just not worth it what so ever. Everything i have eaten has made me feel sick to my Stomach its loaded with MSG and leaves you feeling sick.
- Pros: Service is okay
- Cons: Very unclean and expensive
Never again.

After reading some favorable reviews about this restaurant on this website and on the internet, I decided to try it out. The Islander was spacious, however it did not seem very clean. The tables and the menus were sticky. There was no proper place mats. The waitress was rude and did not have any manners. She kept on mishearing what we were saying. Our orders were messed up.
The General's chicken tasted horrible. It was too sweet and was over fried. There was a hard coating on each piece of chicken from being overdone and there was too much sauce. Not to mention, the sauce was too concentrated. It was pure sugar. It tasted like fried cardboard with a sugar sauce on it.
We were only given a tiny amount of food for the dish, The Islander chicken. A meager amount of vegetable, and an even smaller amount of chicken and shrimp. The sauce was bland and very little.
We also ordered the Kungpao shrimp, which was basically a large amount of vegetables and a tiny amount of small shirmp, cooked in what it seemed like, water. The food was not worth its price, was about $10 a dish.
Not to mention, We were given only two fortune cookies for three people. I would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone. We were very disappointed.
- Pros: Spacious restaurant, bar, private rooms, take-out, parking.
- Cons: horrible custormer service, not clean, tasteless food, overpriced.
