Don't waste your time. I love food but this is not a place I would ever recommend. First the service was mediocre. The dishes had a spot on them and the waiter wiped it off in front of us! Then, one steak was overdone and the other was extremely average. Steak at the chain restaurants blow this away (Ruth Chris, Morton, etc.). If this is one of the best in Providence, it is a disapointing restaurant scene out there. Don't waste your money, time, or palette--go somewhere else.
AMAZING!!!!. THE CAPITAL GRILLE IS WITH OUT A DOUBT THE BEST DINING EXPERIENCE IN PROVIDENCE! I'VE HAD MANY OUTSTANDING DINING EXPERIENCES WITH BOTH BUSINESS ASSOCIATES AND ALSO FAMILY CELEBRATIONS. THEIR ATTENTION TO DETAIL, QUALITY OF FOOD, SELECTIONS OF WINE ARE SECOND TO NONE!! THE STAFF IS THE EPITOME OF THE INDUSTRY IN BOTH SERVICE AND KNOWLEDGE! ONE OF IT'S BEST FEATURES IS THAT IT IS ALSO UNBELIEVABLY COMFORTABLE, YOU CAN HAVE A NICE DRINK AND RELAX AT THE BAR WITH PAUL OR BOB, OR SIT IN THE DINING ROOM AND ENJOY ONE OF THE BEST MEALS AND THE MOST OUTSTANDING WINE LIST IN THE CITY! IF YOU'RE MISSING THIS YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!!
Great Save!. I brought my companies best customer out to the Capital Grille last Monday evening. The place was full and we arrived a little late because of traffic. Our client frequents the Capital Grille in Chicago so his expectations were high. After a short wait they sat us in table facing the State House which looked great.Food and service were excellent! The only glitch was they over cooked my steak. The waiter noticed even though I did not say anything and the manager had another one out in minutes! That made our night!
OUTSTANDING!!!. My Wife and I went to The Capital Grille for our fifteenth anniversary a few weeks ago. The Host and Manager were at the desk inside the front door and welcomed us warmly. We had a drink at the bar and some pleasant conversation about wine with Brian the bartender. When we sat down for dinner our Waiter Ken took great care of us. He offered great suggestions about menu items and suggested a red wine that was an exceptional value ( something Profile I think). He even knew it was our anniversary even though I did'nt tell him and we received a complimentary piece of cake in that honor. I cant go there every week but my wifes birthday is in September!
Awesome Food.
I am from the midwest and can tell you this is fine steak...I know New Englanders have a warped sense of what steak is- however really drop the Italian food one night and try one of the best food experiences you will ever have....
The price is nothing compared to the quality of food..yes yes we know nothing comes with the steak - this is standard fare for decent restaurants that do not want to over feed you with the blue collar fare of SOUP/SALAD AND A VEGETABLE. Try the side dishes they are worth every penny...good food cost money! Please get the steak done medium well - that is the best way to enjoy steak.
Would not Recommend. I would definetly not recommend this restaurant to anyone coming out of town. I tool someone out of town and was so disappointed. Not only was it extremely expensive, but our steak was not good at all. My friend ordered well done and he got a charred piece of meat. I ordered medium and I got what I called well done. For $23 for just the meat it was not good.
Captains of commerce come from far and wide to eat like a king at this masculine New York-style steakhouse..
The Scene
Don't let the lace curtains throw you; those are the only feminine touches you'll find at sophisticated Capital Grille. The dark wood interior, leather booths, clocks and stock ticker lend a testosterone-laden ambience to this upscale New York-style steakhouse. And what goes better with the masculine mood than a hearty cut of dry-aged sirloin?
The Food
The first clue that things could get pricey is when you're offered a choice between bottled or tap water. Pick the free stuff from the faucet and put your savings toward the a la carte menu; the tab adds up fast. Start with spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, then try the dry-aged steak au poivre with Courvoisier cognac cream sauce for the main course. For a smaller appetite, order the tender filet mignon.
Funny business!.
While we are somewhat regular customer, last time we came with a 250$ check from American Express Credit Card. OH !! Big problems. It's not like we stole the money but at this place they surely made us feel this way. The simple fact that this restaurant has chosen to participate in Amex reward program and isn't keeping its end of the bargain automatically disqualifies it for a place where business deals are closed - isn't that what they are supposed to be famous for?
Go next door, the place is a least as good and not over hyped.
A Capital Steak. excellent food, service was acceptible, reservations where held and promptly honored
Beyond Reproach. Once you get past the price, this steakhouse is tops! From the designer alacarte sides to the succulent aged cuts of beef this menu has got the basics down pat. Add to that the exquisite service and amazing wine cellarand you have a restaurant befitting a king.
