Great italian food. Love this place the food is great! Chicken parm is really good here along with a side of meatball and french fries!

Terrible. This is the worst Italian restaurant there is. I am a full blooded italian straight from the old country and I can't believe people think this is good food.

Staff is great, doesn't make up for so-so food. The '70's wood pannelling is depressing, so that sets the mood when you walk in. The food is oddly inconsistant. For instance, my companion asked for a salad and she was served and albiet fresh, but not so high quality salad which consisted of an iceberg lettuce wedge with tomatoes - I would have expected better from an Italian joint. Then, she ordered the green bean salad which was so-so. She also had the vegetable lasagne which was so bad that she sent it back. I had the eggplant parmesean, which was okay.

This time we went at the end of the evening (8:30). The kitchen was about to close, we called ahead and told us to get there in 10 and they would still serve us, so the staff was wonderfully accomedating. But in the past, we have gone earlier in the evening and the place was mobbed.

Could four ladies in lawn chairs lead you astray?. In downtown Providence for Waterfire, we trudged up to the Italian restaurant distrit of Federal Hill without a clue as to where to have dinner. In a small park at the entrance to the district we encountered four ladies of a certain age who could have been there since the mid-sixties. "Where to eat?" we asked. Cheap, authentic, good service. "Angelo's" they answered in a chorus. It's truly like eating in your grandmother's kitchen, if her kitchen seated about 50 and had a miniature train running on a track just below the ceiling the perimeters of the room. In the same family for three generations, it's pretty standard home-style Italian-American specialities. Meatballs and french frieds anyone? But the just better than mediocre food is more than balanced by the price-value relationship and the cordiality of the staff and other customers.

cibo buono!. I have been in Los Angeles for the last 3 years. I have tried the best of the best of LA. I was born and raised in RI and lived there for 30 years. Angelo's worst is comparable to LA's best. If ther is one thing I miss about RI, it would be waiting for the chicken parm special just to take an extra half-hour lunch break. My boss understood completely just as long as I brought him his noodle soup and cheese ravioli. The food at Angelo's is comparable to the old neighborhood Grandma who, on wednesday night, would serve the entire family, friends and neighbors the best I talian food on the planet, from the crusty bread, to the all day sauce. REAL Rhode Islander's know what I'm talking about. The only thing I don't like about Angelo's is there is none In LA!

Authentic Italian classics are priced right at this friendly Federal Hill institution.. The Scene
Angelo's Civita Farnese has been feeding throngs of hungry people since 1924. Be aware that seating here is family-style, so unless you bring enough people to fully fill a Formica table, chances are you'll be coupled up with complete strangers.

The Food
