Place for live bands. OLIVES!!!! a great place to go to meet new people and dance the night away with cool bands. Drinks were fairly priced and staff was friendly. If your looking for an adult croud this is the place to be in providence!!!!!!!
Best bar scene in Providence!. Very cool people, awesome atmosphere! The food is fantastic, the selection of drinks is superb; What more could you ask for? How about awesome live music? They've got it! Ace bartenders? They've got it! You've got to go check it out, a great place to spend time with friends and if you live around Brown, it's really easy just to walk home.
My Favorite Place in the World!. Olive's is such an awesome place! I went there back in August of 2004 with a group of friends, and little did I know that one of the people I was with would end up being my husband! We had such an awesome time the first time we went, and we went there on our second date, and again on the night he proposed to me! The food is amazing, as are the drinks, and the DJ rocks the house! I would go there a million times over and never get tired of it! Try it! You won't be dissapointed....I promise!
User review by bugles. This place is great!!!!! Great drinks, great food, and great service.
Romantic?? Not!. My husband and I went here based on the reviews posted here and were greatly disappointed! The food was mediocre, the ambience was non-existent, the crowd was extremely low-class, and the service was sorely lacking! The ONLY good thing was the pink diamond martini-delicious! But not worth going just for that!
The city's hippest jazz club provides retro-minded revelers with hot food and cool tunes..
The Scene
If Frank Sinatra were alive and looking for a swell place in Providence to set up home base, he would most certainly feel comfortable hanging with the hepcats at Olives. The restaurant has a 1940s, supper club feel, from the rich wood detailing and tinklings of swing, to the expansive listing of martinis.
The Food
You'll certainly hear Perry Como's name dropped, but don't think for a minute that Olives is a seniors-only spot; you've probably witnessed an urbanite ordering from the list of gourmet hamburgers named for big-band leaders. Try the Glenn Miller, made with a mix of minced onions, garlic, bread crumbs and Romano cheese, topped with a slice of tomato and melted provolone cheese, then sandwiched between two slices of mile-high focaccia.
Go for the food. The drinks and the entertainment are great, but the food is outstanding. The specials are especially great, and they are very sophisticated, not just burgers. Go on Wednesday for the two for one specials. We go almost every week and there are very better bargans in Providence.
ALL AROUND FANTASTIC. Martinis @ Olives are second to none. The list of about 30 martinis speaks for itself...everything from a Bond martini to a Chocolatini. Most even come with a sidecar. So for the price, you can not beat it. Weekends consist of live entertainment, that always gets the crowd moving.
Getting in the groove at Olives. I visited on a wednesday night for cocktails with friends the martini's were fantastic: try the coconut grove! I had the same it was incredible large portions and cooked perfectly. The band was really entertaining a little loud but great music. The service was good overall. I'll definitly be back.
