Editorial Review for Brickway on Wickenden – by Dawn Keable

The Scene
It might be the ceiling fans whirring softly overhead. Or maybe it's the retro, chrome diner tables, mismatched chairs and slightly chipped Fiestaware. Whatever makes it feel like home, the transition into morning will be gentle here. Located on a street known for its art scene, this restaurant is so relaxed that no one will give you a second glance if you show up in your pajamas.

The Food
Brickway's menu has a creative edge, especially when it comes to omelets. How about that three-egg Narragansett made with grilled chicken, avocado, tomato and bleu cheese? Traditionalists take heart: There are plenty of classic offerings to go around. Brickway's huge buttermilk pancakes, served in a stack of three with a sprinkling of powdered sugar, cover the plate.

The menu is fantastic! There are all the right kind of simple and tasty combinations you could ask for in a selection of egg/omelet dishes. You'll have a hard time choosing what you want because you will want to eat all of it. I recommended Sunday brunch, but that's a busy time. If they say your wait time is over 40min I would move on. If 40min or less I would say it's worth the wait!

Pros: Food and atmosphere. The convenience of breakfast food at all hours of the day. Portions are good.

Cons: The wait in line on Sundays and sometimes the service is slow.

This is the second best breakfast spot I have ever been to... the coffee here was so good, they refer to it as "new england" coffee and the waitress insisted i try it. i had the black bean omelet (mexican style) and it was delcious. Also, I love the atmosphere here, it is a cute little shack with colored walls and paintings, it has so much character. Very reasonably priced.

Pros: great "new england" coffee, great breakfast.

Cons: none.
