Boxed mashed potatoes.... We were looking for casual dining with more food than burgers and fries. We didn't find that at Blake's Tavern! Buffalo fingers were ok, definately out of a freezer with some RED HOT sauces thrown on. Caesar salads (supposedly a side at $4.50extra) were no more than some Romaine with bottled salad dressing drizzled over the top. My guy ordered the bourbon steak with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were clearly from a box with no added seasoning to even spruce them up. And his steak came raw and burned on the outside. The steak tips were ok but the sauce was overloaded and probably trying to make up for the lacking good taste of what steak tips should be. We didn' t bother with dessert.... Our money would have been better spent on some sidewalk-cart hotdogs and a new pair of shoes at the place next door to Blake's.

Local favorite. Blakes has been in Providence since I can remember. They have a pub type menu with lots of sandwiches and appetizers, but also have dinners and salads as well. Drink prices are moderate and they make a great martini. Blakes has a back room where you can play pool. There's also a second bar back there so you don't have to walk all the way to the front room to get another pint of beer

Reasonable prices and a friendly crowd make this neighborhood bar bustle.. The Scene
Located in downtown Providence, Blake's Tavern is a traditional neighborhood bar that draws its loyal clientele primarily from neighboring businesses. This place is so reminiscent of "Cheers," you almost expect the crowd to give you a hearty greeting when you walk in. On weekends, Blake's has more of a late-night scene, filled with people ending the evening with a drink after a show at Lupo's or another nearby theater.

The Booze
They have a good selection of imported and domestic beers on a tap, and a well-stocked bar. On weekdays, Blake's packs in the after-work crowd looking to unwind with the help of a cheap drink and attentive bartenders.

While You're There
Front bar too crowded? On weekends, the back room opens with a second bar and a pool table.
