Not so OK(i)s.
I've been to Oki's a number of times over the last 10 years but after my last meal there I think that's it unless they fix things. It's sad that it was at one point the best Japanese Steakhouse in R.I.
Walking into Oki's it was dirty, dark and dismal. We ordered hibachi and everything was dirty. The lighting is horrible, I think they may have had someone from the Cadillac Lounge set it up for them.
The hibachi had a big patch of food (rice I think) from the last group still stuck in the middle of the grill. Even the plates had a sheen of grease from the grill and when one of our party asked for a clean plate the waitress swapped it with another grease covered plate from the empty seat next to me. They didn't bother to even get the water marks off of the utensils.
The food was mostly average: I ordered the Chicken and Scallop combination plate and although the Scallops were well cooked the chef managed to divide the it between 3 people by giving one person over 50% of it. He also managed to overcook the chicken and while doing so consistently splattered me with grease from the grill.
The one thing that I have to say I was impressed by was the mustard sauce, it's one of the best I've ever had but didn't make up for the rest of the meal. To top it off the cost of a meal is very expensive and I would expect a much better meal for the over $30 a person we paid.

REVOLTING!.
My husband and I went to Oki because I bought a Groupon… The first impression was – shabby décor, plastic dishes on the tables, very dark – later I found out that there was a reason – they do not want us to see the dirt or poor quality of food. I It looks like they do not like Groupon users very much – starting with the host (or the owner?) who met us at the door and kind of pointed to the group of tables – “pick any table”, to the not very friendly waitress who, I felt was irritated by our mere presence . When we ordered hot tea vs. alcoholic beverage she was practically pissed, my miso soup was inedible - extremely salty – I finished mine and my husband’s tea in one gulp, could not get a refill and there was no water on the table. The futomaki did not taste or look like any futomaki I’ve ever tasted –disgusting and was missing some key ingredients of futomaki, the rest of my sushi ( and I use this term loosely) needed a close inspection from the Department of Health, I brought it home to my cats – they were not interested . My husband’s $26 steak was good, but small – we had to stop at TacoBell on the way home – we were hungry and thirsty after spending $72. It’s been 2 month since out visit and I’m still fuming…I will never go there again!

Love it every time!.
My boyfriend and I visit Oki's all the time. The staff is wonderfull and so is the service! We eat both sushi and hibachi. I love the salad, soup and the sauce is the best.
The bar area is great but I do admit the hibachi area needs upgrading. I personally love the fact they are not located in providence. Parking is easier and its right off the highway. I also go with groups from work and have never been disappointed. We have also been to many other hibachi/sushi places in RI and this is def one of my favorite!
I would recommend this resaurant to anyone!

Review.
I have to say it could use a facelift but the food was excellent. I would go back more often but a little pricey for an every weekend kind of place to eat out at

Oki has gone downhill and very dirty.
I have been going to Oki for over 30 years. I went last week and was disappointed. It is very difficult to get past how dirty it is. As your walking on the tile floor or standing there waiting, the dirt is just caked on and is disgusting. The hibachi area is the same. The keep it very dark for a reason. Our other disappointment is that the prices have gone up and the portions have gone down. For instance they cut way down on the vegatables. How much can zuchini be.
On a positive note, the ginger dressing for the salad and sauce is fantastic!! They just really need to clean.

Good food but going downhill.
I have been going to Oki's for many years (20+) and I have to say that in that time things have changed that shouldn't have. The portions are a lot smaller than they used to be.. the salad is lame but the dressing is excellent. The decor in the bar is very techno and modern but the hibachi part of the restaurant is dingy and old looking, I think they still have the original carpeting! The chefs are excellent but I can't understand them when they speak. The sushi is ok but, I have had better. They are quite pricey so if I don't have a coupon, I don't go. Good hibachi food, the tuna is excellent as is the salmon and beef. I was not impressed with the swordfish, it tasted like cardboard and I was not impressed with the lobster tail as it was just ok yet very expensive. Best bang for your buck.. filet and shrimp or scallops.
The waitress Linda is excellent!! Always remembers me and what I like, she is super nice and accommodating!

Terrible.
I have been going to Oki Steakhouse for at least 10 years now. The staff is ok, the food is good but a day later you are felling sick from it, and to top it off the place is dirty and dingy...there are a few other Habachi places in RI and are much nicer, better food, and cleaner

there are other places to go first....
I have mixed reviews.
The environment and atmosphere was fantastic - but I think it had everything to do with the people I was with and our hibachi chef.
Not the best location - no is it in the best shape - so if you are looking for an appealing outside appearance you will not find it.
Food wise - was not at all impressed with the sushi. Was more vegetarian inclined than I was used to - with less than traditional combinations. The spicy tuna roll made my boyfriend sick for the entire next day.
Hibachi side, the chef made a fantastic onion volcano - and was quite heavy on the fire which we all applauded. I had the salmon - and it was perfectly seasoned. The shrimp was fantastic - and I enjoyed the salad... the soup?? The picture Victoria took literally sums it up - funions meets broth.
Very expensive. I will be trying another restaurant before returning.

Coupon Scam.
I used to like the restaurant, but their 2-for-1 dinner special is a scam. My wife and I went with our daughter and when we got the bill, we found they had taken the kid's meal off (rather than the lesser of the adult meals). I complained and was told that was the owner's policy - even though it isn't mentioned on the coupon card.

Great Food every time.
This is by far the best Japanese restaurant anywhere around the Providence area. However, I don't eat Sushi so I can not judge this particular aspect.
But EVERYTHING from soup, salad, main dish is WONDERFUL
