There is an old saying that some people beocme therapists because they have so many issues themselves. This seems to be the case here. I have worked with a few different therapists to help me with difficult events in my life, and of all of them Ms. D'Aloia was the worst. Run, don't walk away. 90% of the time she ran 20-30 minutes late. She would then explain that she had a "patient in crisis". I started to wonder why so many of her clients were "in crisis" every week. She doesn't take insurance and they doesn't tell you about price increases or extra charges until after the session. During sessions Ms. Deloia would often take personal phone calls, or calls from more "patients in crisis". She seemed to enjoy being the authority figure and having people dependent on her, encouraging them to "call anytime day or night if you need me". However, when I had a question about billing she would only talk about it in session, on my dime (actually more like on my c-note). She liked to spend time gossiping about mutual aquaintences (Professional collaborators be warned: she had some very low opinions of you) and making some strong judgements such as "birth control should be put in the municipal water". Often too she would use crude and vulgar language, which I found uncalled for and unprofessional. Although not an MD, PhD or nutritionist she was quick to give nutrition and medical advice. (Try this test, eliminate that food etc). She herself is quite overweight and would sometimes snack during sessions so I don't know if she was really in a position to help with food issues. Any time any of these things were brought up she would say, "If you don't like it, tough sh*t. Then leave." On the positive side she did give a few pieces of helpful advice and had a few helpful insights into some of my self-defeating behavior. But, all things considered, the negatives far outweigh the positves, and in the end I did leave.

Pros: some helpful advice

Cons: lots of bad advice and disrespectful behavior
