You probably won't find working-class South Providence listed in any tourist guide, and you won't find any frills at this friendly cafeteria-style restaurant. You will, however, be rewarded with a delicious taste of the Dominican Republic, without breaking the bank.

The Food
The day's specials can be purchased individually, but the best way to sample is with a combination plate. The small size easily serves two. You'll get a hefty serving of yellow rice and beans as well as one meat dish and a side. Selections may include fried fish, oxtail, sausage, chicken, plantains, salad or steamed vegetables. Don't be afraid to ask for a description of the dishes: Everything is clearly visible in the glass display case, but nothing is labeled. Whether eat-in or to go, your meal will be presented in the same Styrofoam container.
