The Scene
If you leave Rhode Island without stopping by a Newport Creamery, you will never experience the true spirit of the state. Since 1940, this local institution "at the sign of the golden cow" has been serving up great ice cream and standard grilled fare. The open floor plan, with its booths and bar stools, doesn't provide an ideal dining spot if you wish to remain incognito.
The Food
From the big beef cheeseburger and fish and chips dinner to the chicken pot pie and nature's salad, there's no lack of variety. Just about everything comes with a side and you get to choose from seven of them. Is an Awful-Awful that good? Absolutely. This specialty ice cream drink comes in chocolate, chocolate mint, coffee, mocha, strawberry and vanilla.
