The Scene
Many elements at this Providence landmark testify to its unusual and unchanging appeal--a Popeye pinball machine, evergreen hanging plastic plants, and fuschia booths that have faded under years of accumulated cigarette smoke. And yet despite the greasy film that coats the entire flourescent-lit interior, it's easy to succumb to the spell that this joint's been casting since 1937. The white-bibbed staff serves the population--cops, college kids and the common folk.
The Food
There's nothing unusual about hearing another late-nite diner request, "Five hotdogs with the works, please." In fact, what would be odd would be to hear a customer order just one. The reason for the bounty is these first-rate frankfurters taste light even with triple toppings of mustard, meat sauce and diced celery. You can watch the line cook grill the weiners by the dozens. Thin-pattied hamburgers run a distant second so the especially hungry should diversify with crispy (and not overly breaded) onion rings.

NY SYSTEM WEINIES ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD- I WISH THEY OPENED UP A FEW CHAINS IN MASS. AND OHIO ! THESE ARE UNLIKE ANY "HOT DOG" YOU'LL EVER HAVE- IT'S NOT A HOT DOG- IT'S A WEINER AND IT'S THINNER AND TASTIER WITH A DELICIOUS UNIQUE TASTE AND ADDICTING FLAVOR- I MOVED FROM LITTLE RHODY 35 YRS ASO AND I STILL CRAVE THEIR WEINIES. YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM WITH SOME DEL'S AND A SIDE ORDER OF CLAMCAKES . I MISS RI !!!! IT HAS THE BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD !!

You can only find the Hot Weiner in Rhode Island and there made with a special wiener (hot dog), mustard, onions, special meat sauce, and celery salt not chopped celery. All it takes is one dog and your addicted.
