Highly dissapointed. This place has gone steadily downhill over the years. The food is average at best. People often praise thier steak but in fact steaks at real steakhouse are ten times better. I will only go thier with my parents for nostalgias sake. The best deal here is to get a sanwich for take-out. The place looks like it hasnt been updated since 1970 and for a good reason it hasnt.

Don't Do it. Simply the worst excuse for Italian food I have ever seen. The restaurant is run down, the staff is rude, the food is cold and old

This popular Rhode Island institution has served home-style Italian specialties and New England favorites since 1933.. The Scene
The parking lot is always full, a testimony to the popularity of this Rhode Island institution. Be sure that you have a reservation, or at least know someone on the inside, because an hour-long wait for a table isn't uncommon. Why do customers put up with it? Taste the food and everything becomes clear.

The Food

From jalapeno poppers to escargot with garlic butter, the appetizers cater to all palates. Sumptuous steaks head the menu, followed by delectable baked stuffed shrimp, scrod topped with buttery cracker crumbs and Italian specialties like veal Parmesan. Daily specials include dishes of New England boiled dinner, quahog (clam) pie and meat loaf with mushroom gravy.

Disappointed!. After the review I read here (which is actually an advertisment), we were excited to finally enjoy authentic italian food that we could afford. Pulling up to the restaurant we already had concerns, as it's in an entirely residential neighborhood. From the outside Twin Oaks looks and feels like a retirement home and from the inside it looks like a giant Denny's or Friendly's restaurant. The food was not impressive, and I wasn't expecting much, a lot of it was actually gross (jalapeno poppers with runny Velveta cheese inside instead or traditional style). Our waiter was friendly and memorized our orders well, but after he dropped the check he disappeared and the bus boy actually had to take our creditcard and run it. As we left we saw our waiter sitting in the lounge as if he were off the clock!

Great Place to go!. Twin Oaks is a terrific place to go - for a date, or as a family. The steak is awesome, just be sure to order it a degree of done-ness more than you usually like (except for well-done!) as the chef cooks things a little rare. If going on a weekend, prepare for a l-o-n-g wait - they do not accept reservations for parties less than 10.

At the bar, as for Artie - he makes the best Margaritas!

Twin Oaks. Twin Oaks has been around as long as I can remember. However, I think they are living on their reputation. The last two times my family dined there our dinner was inferior. The steaks had a lot of gristle and were chewy. The pork chops were tough and overdone. Although we have a handicapped person in our party, the valet parking was full.

Twin Oaks is the worst in the State. The steak I got was filled with fat and gristle and was poorly cooked. The wine I was served tasted like vinegar. The management was not helpful at all in trying to resolve my concerns...for you to rate this the best in the state is an embarassment to Rhode Islanders

Old fashioned blue hairs,,,but good food. This place is like something out of the Godfather...very old fashioned and average age is like 60...but the food is very good...Large Portions make you almost sick..anddont leave room for dessert...but I have to say the service was very good and its a great place for large groups...but dont take a date here...you might scare them off...a good place to go for a Sunday afternoon meal with your grandparents!

Frequent diner. Years ago this restaurant was the best around.

After the fire they rebuilt and for some reason,

althought the food is very good, never seemed to

be as great as it used to be.

Fabulistic. The best place in R.I. for baked stuffed shrimp or veal. Absolutely the best mixed drinks, and both have reasonable prices. Can't go wrong for a night of dining out!
