the loft is now a straight bar called EFFIN'S. I do not understand why this site is still here. However the Loft was the best club around in the early eighties.

NOT a gay bar. No longer a gay bar. Don't pay $5 like i did to find out. Nice red necks, but GLBT go somewhere else.

Gay Bar/Lounge Environment. The loft is a small gay owned and operated lounge in Smithfield. Usually there's a smallish crowd there, and unlike most of the Providence Gay Bars and Clubs, there's very little attitude. The Back Lounge has Karaoke every Friday and Saturday night at 9pm. During the summer they have an olympic sized pool open in the back. Great all around bar. Wonderful atmosphere.
