We're new to Providence and drove by this restaurant. It looked great from the outside, very trendy. However, it is VERY tight inside. The tables are so close together that we started conversation with the people next to us because they were practically in our laps. We ordered sushi, and it was NOT GOOD. Save your money and get some sushi at Whole Foods instead. Portions were small, taste was bland, overall it was a very expensive and very bad experience. We will never go back.

Pros: easy parking

Cons: price, bad food, cramped inside

Considering the fact that it's in downtown Providence, parking is usually easy to find. They also have valet service, but it's hardly called for. The general "look" of the restaurant is very trendy, but it has the worst layout. The tables are about literally 4 inches apart. It makes you feel like you're having dinner with the people next to you. If you get a loud crowd next to do then good luck. This place is definitely not reccommended for dates, since there's no privacy. The food is good, but not great. Not good enough endure the terrible seatings. It is also over priced. If you're looking for authentic sushi, this is definitely not the place to go. Mediocre is more like it. The crowd consist mostly of young women and older men. You guessed it, it's a place for men in their 50s to pick up the young gold diggers. Please save your money and time. They try to come off as a hip new york, upscale, italian restaurant with an asian flare...FAR FROM. Big let down.

Pros: Parking was okay considering it was located downtown Providence

Cons: Bad seating, loud, over priced for average/ below average menu.

For the amount of money spent there, it was definitely sub-par. First off, the sushi had fish scales on it and almost cut my mouth!! Then I ordered a steak for over $50 and it wasn't even cooked enough. I like it medium/medium rare, but it was basically still mooing when it got to me. I could hardly even cut it with a knife because it was so hardly cooked. Dessert was missing flavor also. But besides that, everything else was fine. Martini was good and the service was friendly.

Pros: Trendy

Cons: Too much $ for the quality

I've never eaten at this restaurant. I was only involved in a minor car accident involving one of their valets. The valet was retrieving the car of a restaurant patron when he rear-ended us at a stop light. After much discussion back at the restaurant, we were assured that night that the restaurant would "take care of everything." We later learned that their policy was not to cover any damages caused by their valets while parking cars. This was a policy that they kept reiterating was stated on the valet ticket. This didn't mean a whole lot to us, having never been to the restaurant. The restaurant patron was left with a $2,300 repair bill and we were left with a $900 repair bill to our car. While the restaurant sent a check for $500 to cover some of that cost, they failed to take full responsibility for something that their employee caused. We were merely driving down the street, and the next thing we're stuck with an expense that was in no way our fault. Throughout the experience, it continually took several days to hear from the manager of the restaurant depsite her guarantee that she would call me asap the following day. This was promised several times by several people throughout the company. I left messages for John Elkhay- the "maestro". He never responded to my calls. I'm disappointed that this is how a business treats their patrons and even more- how they treat the innocent victims of accidents that their employees cause. I will never go to this restaurant- I hope others will think twice before they do, and last but not least- never valet park your car...they'll make a chump out of you.

Cons: Business people/restauranteurs who re-neg on their word and treat patrons poorly.

I am literally on the fence in writing this review. In the interest of sounding positive, I’ll begin by stating Ten has the freshest sushi I have ever tried. I’ve tried other upscale sushi restaurants, but nothing comes close to Ten. Their pomegranate martini has to be the best known to woman (ok…and man). Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every item I’ve tried on the menu from New England clam chowder to the bacon wrapped steak to their decadent soufflé. Now for the other side of the fence…the seating and layout of this building make it for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. There are only two decent tables: the two facing Pine Street directly in front of the windows. Even the third table in this area is no good, as it faces the inside and people congregate right on top of you as you’re eating. The rest of the tables I have [literally] been “bumped” every time I sit in a chair in the aisle by staff and/or patrons while trying to eat.. It is the most uncomfortable feeling. Since complaining without a solution will solve nothing, may I suggest they pick a decent “slow” time of year to reconstruct the inside – starting with knocking down that infamous half-wall between the bar and tables that people constantly try walking through while endlessly excusing themselves! Not to mention the poor people sitting in the half booth constantly in fear someone will spill their drink resting on the edge on their heads! -AMAckley

Something is wrong. They are indifferent . Do not go. Please save yourself a ton of money and a night. Worst "upscale" rest. that I have been too. What a joke.

Pros: terrible

Cons: see above. give me a break. I would not send my worst enemy there.

I came back from New York City where I am pursuing graduate studies to my home area of Boston, MA for a visit and was eagerly anticipating dinner with a friend at this place. To say the least, this place is a joke. Between the horribly arranged and cramped vestibule area, the more than 45-minute wait time (for an already-reserved table), the VERY rude/unfriendly service (even compared to NYC servers these guys are nasty), and the MEDIOCRE food at OUTRAGEOUS prices, I would never recommend anyone go to this place.

This has to be hands down the worse bar arrangement in the state. Why make a so called bar area where there is absolutely no where to stand without getting pushed and shoved by others trying to jam into an impossible space. I understand space definitely is a problem here no question, then why shoot for the moon, pare down the concept or look for another space. You have the same problem with the table spacing. Like so many other restaurants owned by John Elkhay he obviously must feel we as dinners have a need to listen to other tables conversations. Whether it is XO, Citron, etc., all his restaurant bars are the same, no room for people to stand at the bar without getting in the waitstaff's way. The food and service is also below average for the outragous prices. This is definitely one of those restaurants that has gone downhill since it's opening.

Pros: Valet

Cons: bar & table spacing, prices, service

We had a 9:00 pm reservation on a thursday night. We maybe sat down at 9:45 with no explanation or apology. We were cramped together in the bar area and kept having to move more the waitstaff. I was not impressed at all by the service and the table we were at. Furthermore the food is WAY overpriced for the quality. This place actually makes me mad.

Pros: valet parking

Cons: food, price, service

Editor's Review

Downtown Providence on the outside and South Beach on the inside, with interesting food that's too fun to feel out of place.  See the full editorial review.
