No Place Better in Southern New England

Never thought I was a fussy guy when it came to hair, but after leaving Boston a couple of years ago it seemed every place I went gave me bad haircut after bad haircut. I'd run into old timer barbers for a standard "high & tight" (which meant "short & lopsided") or I'd try a different stylists at my town's "best" salon. I'd get fair shampoo/head massages, but each girl had a way of makingmade my hair look "almost" good - the style would be decent, except for the one chunk of my head which looked like they trimmed with a shovel.

I'd committed myself to a life wearing hats when I noticed my wife's hair had taken on a stunning style. On a recommendation from a friend she'd started going to Devan, so I did and then we followed her to M2. Couldn't be happier - I only break out the hats on days I don't feel like showering.

What puts Devan above the rest, apart from her scissor talents, is personality - she's one of the only stylists I've actually enjoyed talking to (including the one I'd dated years ago...) She's got a laid-back, honest manner and her memory is astounding. She remembers conversational details from my first visit - her attention to personal details just makes one more comfortable that she's going to be just as attentive w/ your hair. I need to stop arriving at M2 w/ just washed hair because a pre-cut shampoo/conditioning by Devan is about one of the nicest things you can experience on a regular basis. Enchanted fingers - they'll put you to sleep in the sink.

There's lots of 2-Hr parking areas on Atwells, but it is a busy street so you might find yourself driving around trying to grab a spot. But you'll find plenty of small lots on the streets guarded by "good fellas" on lawn chairs - they'll make sure "nobody puts a scratch on ya cah" for a very reasonable rate while you're in the salon.

After seeing Devan - stop into Venda Ravioli a couple of doors down. Best Italian groceria/deli next to J. Pace's in Boston.

• Cons: Placement of mirrors on pillars might have you waving to people who can't see you...

New to the city

Just moved to Providence and great reviews led me to M Salon. Melissa did a great job cutting/styling my hair, was fast and friendly. Highly recommended.

Talented trendy stylists, friendly and professional

I've been seeing Stephanie for haircuts and styling for about 4 years. She is amazing with hair - so talented - and easy to talk to. She knows what is trendy and gives great hair advice. I always leave absolutely loving my hair! Everyone in the salon is professional and friendly. Michael, the owner, is awesome and also very talented. I highly recommend this place for hair and beauty needs! They also do nails and makeup.

Lori did a great cut on me and diagnosed my intensely dry hair so well that she found the perfect products to bring my curls back to life (use the moroccan oil, ladies!!). She knows what she's doing, that's for sure...

Best Haircut and Color in Town

Michael is a genius, although you may go in the salon with the a specific idea of how you would like your hair, Michael will adapt it to your lifestyle and the shape of your face.

I have never been able to keep a cut in shape while growing it out before M Squared.

Great Haircuts + Color!

Stephanie @ MSquared has been cutting + coloring my hair since I moved to RI part-time in 2003. She's professional, patient and very tuned-in to what's new in her industry. The salon is small, but hip and in a great neighborhood. You can shop or have lunch before or after your appointment and there's a parking lot right next door! Prices are good too!

Melissa at M Squared is amazing!

I followed Melissa from Urban Detour and she is amazing. I have a pretty complicated color that is multi colors and dry hair that she transforms for me. I am constantly asked where I get my hair done and I always love recommending her and the salon. I am also super picky and have gone to many stylist that have had there own ideas of how my hair should look. Melissa always listens and always does an outstanding job.

Great Salon for Curly Hair!

I recently moved to providence and was in search of a salon and came upon M2. I always get nervous upon trying new salons, b/c most places don't know how to cut curly hair. Well.... Go to Stephanie! She is great, and my cut was awesome.... Have been back 3 times already and will continue!
