Bad Service, Flat Guiness

by hooksettxing

While the outdoor patio provides a nice atmosphere, I felt as if I were left alone out there to fend for myself as far as service. Perhaps my expirience would've been different had I sat indoors...or perhaps not. Our waiter seemed annoyed that he had to bother with us and took over 20 minutes to come over for our drink order. Upon arrival, the Guiness was undersized and FLAT! After waiting around another 30 minutes or so without service, I decided to leave instead of sticking around for dinner as originally plannned. I left with the impression that the place was overly "touristy" and not worth the hype. I ended up having a robust, tasty Guiness and a meal served by a pleasant, attentive server at Mudville Pub. If looking for a good pint I would suggest skipping O'Briens and hitting Mudville or The Fastner.

  • Pros: outdoor patio
  • Cons: poor service, poor drink quality and portion sizes

AVOID AT ALL COSTS !

O'briens Pub LOOKS to be a nice fun pub to have a few drinks & eat at , but in reality there is nothing to enjoy except for its looks. My girlfriend and myself decided to head to O'briens Pub since myself heard from other co-workers at my firehouse that its not a bad place to check out. We arrive there, get seated, and wait.....and wait..... , now it was steady but not busy, didnt look understaffed, finally after 20 minutes our waiter arrived asked what we would like, I ordered a Guinness, my girlfriend orderd a mixed drink, chips & dip for appitizers and a couple of sandwich wraps. The waiter then left, and again waited.... and waited... finaly after about another 20 our drinks FINALY came. My Guinness was horrable, I myself enjoy Guinness very much being half Irish, and knowing how it should tast which is rich and flavorfull. This Guinness was Flat, like drinking flat soda that was in the fridge for two months, my girlfriends drink was no taller then 3" by 3", which was lousy also. At that point we were both getting upset, we also noticed 4 other people sat at a table next to us, they were waited on imidialty by someone else, and got there drinks and appitizers withing 15 minutes of there arival. By this time a half hour had gone by we got no appitzers and our waiter never came by to ask if we would like more drinks. We both decided with disgust to leave and pay for our two drinks. We both walked to the bar, where there were 3 bartenders, non acknowledged us, so I asked loudly to be cashed out due to the facts stated above, she appoliged and let us leave with those 2 drinks on the house. I did mention loudly " how slow the service was, how bad the guinness was, and how ridiculis 4 other people got served quicker. So all in all this is not the place to go for a nice Irish pub, my girlfriend and I have been to many Irish pubs being both Irish, and will say this also that this is not even close to being a tradional Irish bub, and is a discrace to our herritage.

  • Pros: It looks nice from the outside
  • Cons: slow service, bad tasting guiness, unfriendly atmosphere
