Not Authentic, Better Food Elsewhere
by PittToProv
Can I give it "zero stars"? This is definitely NOT the greatest Indian Food in the area - or anywhere. The ambience is nice, but that's about it. Food is overpriced and definitely not authentic. If you want GOOD, decently priced Indian food, try "Not Just Snacks" right up the road. Or a little more upscale at "Rasoi" or "Kabob and Curry". One tip - if you see Indians in the restaurant, it has good authentic food - the only people I see in India are fair-skinned!!!
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: Price, Authenticity
This location closed: Go to 1060 Hope St on Providence's East Side

This place is AMAZING... see all the other reviews for proof of that... but the downtown location is closed. So check out their East Side location at 1060 Hope St... where the ambiance extends to a front and back patio, as well! It's right across from the park at Blackstone Boulevard... truly a perfect setting.
absolutely incredible

I went to dinner here on my birthday with 9 friends and it was one of the best dining experiences i have had in a long time. The first thing that struck me was how incredibly welcoming and friendly the entire staff is...I truly have not felt so comfortable and welcome in a restaurant ever. Second is the decor and the music....perfect. And of course -- the food. So many great vegetarian options - everything tastes undeniably authentic but with a bit more modern twist. Exceptional. The sampler basket of all types of naan is a must!
- Pros: service, ambiance, vegetarian entrees
Excellent from start to finish!
by koorong
Excellent from start to finish! Immediately welcomed by warm and friendly staff, with helpful recommendations and advice. The naan breads were delicious, you must try the assorted basket to truly appreciate what they offer. Curry dishes were also fantastic, tastes that were truly unique and well plated; never overwhelming but still a feast of flavours. Both the chicken and lamb were deliciously tender. Absolutely plan on returning to explore the rest of their menu in the many days to come!
- Pros: Service, naan bread, curry
- Cons: Too many tantalizing options to choose from!
Traditional yet health-conscious Indian cuisine promotes health and happiness at this modest subcontinental restaurant.

The Scene
If you're looking for a taste of India, look no further than downtown Providence. You won't find the expected pictures of the Taj Mahal on the walls here, because the owners had more exotic ideas in mind. Brightly colored oils depicting scenes of Indian life give a more realistic and well-rounded portrayal of the country's rich history.
The Food
India's menu follows a nontraditional path, promising uncomplicated food geared more toward today's health-conscious lifestyles than traditional Indian cuisine. Start with an order of tulsi naan, a thin crispy white bread topped with pesto, accompanied by a cup of tasty yogurt-based raita soup. If you're looking to pack a bit more heat, go with an entree of lamb vindaloo and request it extra spicy. The servings are generous, so you'll have enough left over to continue your visit abroad tomorrow.

This is more an experince than just dining. Everytime we walk into the door we are greeted with a happy smile and from that moment you feel as if you are a royal guest in their homeland. The smell of the spices and Tandori oven floats in the air. Colourful paintings and artifacts surround you while you dine. This place is outstanding
- Pros: parking, great value, almost never wait
