Good breakfast, good coffee, OK service and atmosphere

by PittToProv

Great breakfast (my favorite is the chicken and avacado omelet - I forget what they call it) with a good variety of choices and very unique blend of ingredients. Good coffee, decent atmosphere, decent service. We had one bad experience when the waitress threw out our leftovers and made a rude comment that we should not have left it on the table, but we have seen gone back and enjoyed breakfast there again. Definitely worth trying.

  • Pros: Breakfast flavors and choices
  • Cons: Below average service

This is good hangover food. Meet your friends there for brunch. Worth a 30 minute wait in line.

The menu is fantastic! There are all the right kind of simple and tasty combinations you could ask for in a selection of egg/omelet dishes. You'll have a hard time choosing what you want because you will want to eat all of it. I recommended Sunday brunch, but that's a busy time. If they say your wait time is over 40min I would move on. If 40min or less I would say it's worth the wait!

  • Pros: Food and atmosphere. The convenience of breakfast food at all hours of the day. Portions are good.
  • Cons: The wait in line on Sundays and sometimes the service is slow.

A MUST WHEN VISITING PROVIDENCE.

by nishnish2000

This is the second best breakfast spot I have ever been to... the coffee here was so good, they refer to it as "new england" coffee and the waitress insisted i try it. i had the black bean omelet (mexican style) and it was delcious.

Also, I love the atmosphere here, it is a cute little shack with colored walls and paintings, it has so much character. Very reasonably priced.

  • Pros: great "new england" coffee, great breakfast.
  • Cons: none.

A great little place!

by lgkinnicutt

I went with my parents mid morning on a Sunday and it was packed. We had to wait about 20 minutes but it was well worth it! The prices are right and the food delicious. The service was also very good.

  • Pros: portion size, price
  • Cons: parking

The perfect place to wake up, this bright, funky eatery serves breakfast all day.

The Scene
It might be the ceiling fans whirring softly overhead. Or maybe it's the retro, chrome diner tables, mismatched chairs and slightly chipped Fiestaware. Whatever makes it feel like home, the transition into morning will be gentle here. Located on a street known for its art scene, this restaurant is so relaxed that no one will give you a second glance if you show up in your pajamas.

The Food
Brickway's menu has a creative edge, especially when it comes to omelets. How about that three-egg Narragansett made with grilled chicken, avocado, tomato and bleu cheese? Traditionalists take heart: There are plenty of classic offerings to go around. Brickway's huge buttermilk pancakes, served in a stack of three with a sprinkling of powdered sugar, cover the plate.

The bestest

by mchittim

I've been to Brickway on Wickenden twice and will definately be going again and again. It is the best breakfast place I have been to in the Providence area. An eclectic interior offers the best pancakes I have ever had outside of my own kitchen. The homefries are terrific and not to greasy and the eggs are perfectly cooked to order. Nice wait staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Get there when it opens. Its a popular place and gets crowded by mid-morning.

  • Pros: Food, easy access, ambience
  • Cons: chairs

The Brickway is a great breakfast place. The food is really good and it is pretty inexpensive. The place does get crowded, so you might have to wait for a table.

Best breakfast in Providence!

by spikee

For my money, there's no better breakfast house in Providence! We're not talking gourmet eats here, but great food at a great price that can't be beat.

The atmosphere is very RISD inspired with most of the furnishings (tables, chairs, utensils, etc.) culled from, what appear to be, a variety of yard sales. For the most part, nothing matches and nothing is supposed to. And that's the fun of it!

Check out the variety of pancake dishes served in generous portions! Top notch!

  • Pros: Food!, Atmosphere, Value/price
  • Cons: So-so service
