Great entertainment, cheap beer, cool activities

Fun place to grab a cheap beer (Narragansett is 2 bucks!) chat with friends, meet people... In addition, there is ALWAYS something new and fun going on. There is a schedule online of their events, and they are always showcasing local original bands. You will not hear any covers here folks - all music has to be original. During the colder months they house an indoor farmer's market.

Food is a bit shabby...but if you are hungry and aren't expecting much, you'll be fine.

• Pros: Great place to meet new people, cheap beer, fun atmosphere
• Cons: food isn't that good

diverse, truly a taste of Providence's alternitave style

Interesting entertainment, decent meals, fun people in a weird way. Very cool for the younger crowd.

Also AS220 does a lot of good things with inner city youths in Rhode Island and should be supported.

This is a highly recomended place to visit wether you are a tourist or a native.

• Pros: casual, trendy , college types
• Cons: I am trying to find one.....

Good burritos, cheap beer, art!

I had drinks and a burrito here last night, and it was surprisingly good, and cheap! They have good beer on tap for $4 a pint. Plus there are always events going on (figure drawing, poetry reading, etc...) Definitely a really cool place that is worth stopping by!

• Cons: None

This bar blends art, music and poetry into a nightlife dream.

The Scene
AS 220 provides an exciting and relatively inexpensive treat every night of the week. Highlights include indie-rock shows, poetry slams hosted by the nationally recognized Providence Slam Team, DJs spinning electronica, comedy improv nights, and figure-drawing classes. With so much to do and see in one space, culture was never this fun before.

The Booze
Although the caf? serves a variety of bottled beers and a small selection of drinks, it's the wonderful performances and comfortable atmosphere that keep people coming back.

While You're There
In addition to studios, a printshop, and a community darkroom, AS 220 also provides performance space and galleries where emerging local artists can get much-needed exposure.

What a great place!

I love the AS220. Such diversity! Many opportunities to experience various aspects of the art community. All different types of music, art, etc. Yay!!
