I was the biggest Caserta fan back in the day... I'd travel 30 miles for a Caserta Pizza and in RI that's BIG !!! But just like anything else with new owners ,and time ,comes change. Caserta was the king for many years ... they went up against a pizza at the Bryant College Annual Pizza Challenge this year ( can you tell I'm a Pizza Lover) and the winner this year was a place I've never heard of... Pepino's Pizzeria in Lincoln... OMG !!!! The NEW REIGNING KING of PIZZA... from the northend of Boston !!!! Best kept secret in RI !!!

Pros: Easy to find... been there for years

Cons: Just not like it used to be !!!

Their pizza is disgusting. The sauce is wicked salty, the toppings are few in variety and not very good. Go to Bob & Timmy's - it's much better.

Better than chain pizza. Decently priced. They don't usually skimp on the toppings..usually when I ask for "extra extra pepperoni and olives" and make it a point again to say I want it covered, I usually get it that way and it's still under $10. They lack the consistency though, I guess depending on who makes it because sometimes there's sauce overload and it's too gloppy with a bunch of those little tomato things. I like how the crust isn't too thick and not too thin but it's bland and tasteless. Its weird, like they just sprayed some olive oil on it and fried the bottom. And twice I have found a piece of hair in it. I noticed the first piece at home and the second time I went back in and took a refund on it (didn't want an irritated cook spitting in it..) So I now make sure to inspect the pizza before leaving.....

Pros: Price. Crust not too thin and not too thick, usually lots of toppings.

Cons: Tasteless, white crust that they spray oil on and fry the bottom, had hair in pizza. Made differently each time.

THE BEST ANYWHERE!! THOSE SPINACH PIES? CAN'T GET ENOUGH! PIZZA? IN BOSTON, REGINA'S AND SANTARPIO'S ARE THE KING. THEY DON'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO CASERTA'S. BELIEVE ME, IT'S WORTH THE TRIP!!!!!

My wife and I just enjoyed a delicious large pepperoni, olive and cheese pizza for lunch. She had a pizza craving since before our cruise last week that was left unsatisfied until today. We had incredible food on the cruise ship including pizza but I kid you not, Casserta's pizza satisfies like no other. Just the right balance of crispy crust, olive oil, sause and toppings so that you can perch your slice on your fingertips. We ordered a large so we could have some for lunch tomorrow but could not stop eating just one more slice 'till there were only five squares left. Yes it is a square pizza. RI's best! I found this site looking for the phone number to pre-order our pizza for lunch and read some nasty reviews. Although seeds of doubt were planted I went with my gut and enjoyed an amazing icon of RI once again Caserta's pizza! This was my first review and felt compelled to correct what I felt were misrepresentative impressions of a Federal Hill treasure. If you are not from RI maybe you have a thin skin to an attitide of toughness. Hey If we come off as abrupt it does not necessarily mean that we are bad people. We may actually be having a tough day. Share a smile with us and you will discover the side of us we share with our friends. Get to know us and you will have a friend for life.

Pros: Classic Italian RI pizza place.

Cons: Parking is tight.

You would have to be an idiot to order green peppers on a Casserta pizza. That's like ordering ketchup for your stake serloin. Don't get me wrong peppers are good on Chicago style pizzas and the like but this is not Chicago or New York. This is Providence, Rhode Island. And this is our pizza (and our atmosphere for that matter)!

Pros: Genuine Atmosphere, Location, Simplicity

I worked at Uncas Mfg. from 1967 to 1972. A work friend introduced me to Casserta's. Thirty nine years later.... I still loved their pizza. The menu is almost the same now as it was then. I don't mind the parking, waiting for a table, the limited menu, or picking up my own order. I am a loyal customer, and will be until I die. Casserta's..... don't change a thing!

Pros: value priced

Cons: parking is limited

I moved here from NYC and thing first thing I ask is "where can I get a good pizza?" Lots of Italians here, so I figure I can't lose right? Wrong! Man, Rhode Islanders do not know good pizza. Glaring example is Caserta's. I've had frozen supermarket pizza that was better. For what Caserta's charges for a pie, you could send a kid to college. Another clunker is that they act like they're doing you a favor by serving you one of their atrociously over priced pizzas. Tasteless crust, like Wonder bread. Sauce like ketchup, horrible!! If they opened up a joint like this in NYC or Brooklyn, they wouldn't last a week. They'd find the owners in a dumpster along with their pizzas! Anyone coming in from out of town...stay away! The locals just don't have a clue, they haven't tasted what other cities have to offer.

Pros: Funny statue outside

Cons: food, service, price

My husband and I are from the area and we weren't impressed at all with their pizza. We have had better elsewhere. Everyone has a right to their own opinion but we prefer not eating there again. Nothing to brag about and we don't understand why they have such a high rating to begin with.

The one thing you'll never find in this casual pizzeria? Uneaten scraps of crust.  See the full editorial review.
