Best French Restaurant in RI. I've been going to Chez Pascal for years. Food is exceptional, as well as the (reasonably priced) wine list. Staff is attentive and knowledgable. horrible service. What a shame. We had heard good things and the food was really great but the service was terrible. I'm not talking about silly picky things, the waiter didn't even come over for fifteen minutes. Drinks staggered to the table in five minute intervals so toasting our celebrating friends was out of the question. One diner was without a fork until his food was cold.

Clearly there is talent in the kitchen but not in the decor and certainly not in the service. I assured our out of town friends that Providence does have great restaurants, this is not one of them.…

Waiter should not be the entertainment. Went to Chez last Friday. The waiter was in our face all night long. We were meeting friends we had not seen in a while and the waiter thought he was there to entertain us. He did not serve the wine we asked for - told us it was no good - I then to think they were out of it and he was not being honest. He kept trying to talk us into more than we wanted and generally annoying.

Food was OK not spectacular and portions were French hence value was marginal. I was not WOW'd by Chez and perhaps won't visit there again.…

Spectacular. Had a great experience at Chez Pascal. CP delivers first-class cuisine in a friendly, casual manner with a little neighborhood vibe. The menu was diverse but the cold night led me to the heavy stuff. The foie gras appetizer was spectacular. My heart begged for atherosclerotic mercy when I saw it, a large portion, made to seem even larger atop a crunchy, buttery support of some type of dark bread (advertised as "chocolate"). Accompanied by a vanilla-infused garnish, the complimenting textures and flavors of this dish were wonderful. The cassoulet entree contained the expected duck leg confit along with other delectable bits of meats and homemade sausage. My partner dined on the lighter side, with positive comments on the crabcakes and grouper. Dessert was a rich almond torte, deliciously caramelized on top and bottom, and topped with pear ice cream.
